New functions for PLOSSYS 5: scaling, rotating, folding and more

In this Article

The scope of PLOSSYS 5 functions is growing consistently. Versions 5.6.0 and 5.7.0 add functions for scaling, sheet orientation and the output of contiguous document sets. They bring the output into the optimum format and ensure contiguous output of document sets. These functions are essential in the PLM and DMS environment in particular, for example to output all documents of an component assembly in the construction in a continuous format, regardless of the format in which they are available. Another new feature is the direct processing of TIFF files.

With its latest functions, PLOSSYS 5 continues to offer not only extremely secure, fast and reliable output processes in ERP, SAP and Windows, but also enables efficient document distribution in engineering processes.

Intelligent printing with automatic scaling and rotation

Your CAD drawing is designed for A0 or A3. The corresponding specification was created in Microsoft Office: Output management must be able to handle different formats reliably and output them optimally on the assigned hardware. The variance in formats requires intelligence:

Scaling up: The output document is smaller than the minimum output format of the printer. It is scaled up.

Scale down: If the source format is larger than the maximum format processed by the printer, it is scaled down.

Freely selected format: The document to be printed is scaled to the selected format and the sheet orientation is changed if necessary.

    Contiguous output of document sets

In the document management context and for SAP process printing, it is important that all documents belonging to a business process are output in the correct order and contiguous. Depending on the selected output system, individual documents must be scaled to the appropriate format. As a result, all documents relating to a maintenance and production order or an order triggered by purchasing, for example, can be output and distributed simply and largely automatically at the touch of a button. Depending on the business process and industry, up to several hundred documents in one output job. With the contiguous output of document sets, each user receives their output order sequentially and securely on the output system they are using, without another user “cheating” an output on the same output device between such a document set, even with large document sets.

    DIN-compliant folding

Especially when plotting, printing alone is not enough. Only the final folding (e.g. according to DIN 824) makes the printed paper easy to handle. Either for direct filing in a ring binder or for inserting into a document cover. Clearly visible at first glance: the title block of the drawing.

For more compatibility: TIFF as an additional input format

In addition to the previous input formats PostScript, PDF and OTF, PLOSSYS 5 now also offers the processing of rasterized TIFF files. These are still frequently found in archive and document management systems in engineering in particular, but also in many of our customers’ document archives.

The input formats listed here can be output to any output device via the PLOSSYS 5 processing procedures or distributed digitally after conversion to PDF/A, for example. As a high-performance spooler, PLOSSYS 5 supports any other file formats.

    Activating the new functions

The Rotate and Scale functions are available from PLOSSYS version 5.6.0. Activation takes place in the printer and queue management of easyPRIMA (from version 1.10.0). In the case of a new implementation, activation takes place during the installation process. PLOSSYS version 5.7.0 also adds interruption-free printing.
