As companies begin to shift their attention to 2019, SEAL Systems has noticed an increased interest in one of our products – Paperless Production (PALO).
Whether it is because of the problems that reliance on paper creates or the impact on the environment, many are learning that Paperless Production is the perfect solution for their company.
According to IDC, businesses spend an average of twenty dollars to process and store each document.
But that is not all…
On top of the average twenty dollars, employees also waste 3.5 hours a week trying to find the documents they processed and stored. And, when they cannot find documents, they spend additional work hours recreating them.
In dollars, AIIM identified that (on average) a misfiled document costs a company $125 – and a lost document costs $700.
There is still an additional cost for documents that are filed correctly. According to the Gartner Group, a new employee is needed for every twelve filing cabinets that are added. And another employee means another salary to pay.
In addition to the cost of filing, productivity also decreases each time a document is misfiled because an employee has to spend time redoing a task.
But even the retrieval of documents can be costly. The Gartner Group estimates that the average worker makes 61 trips to the fax machine, copier and printer per week. That is roughly 265 trips a month!
For a small business, these numbers might not be too costly. But if you have a large company where employees work with a lot of documents – the numbers can be staggering.
According to DocuSign, 42% of paper-based processes are delayed because they lack a physical signature. This can add 3.1 days (on average) to most processes.
Many companies use digital signatures to expedite this. But, how do digital signatures compare to physical signatures?
Surprisingly, there are many instances where a digital signature is preferred. This is because physical signatures can be forged or tampered with, but digital signatures can be protected with added layers of security and authentication.
For example, SEAL Systems has a secure and reliable solution that verifies the author – and ensures the integrity of the document with a signature.
Pulp and paper generate the third largest amount of industrial air, water and land emissions in Canada and the sixth largest in the United States. And worldwide consumption of paper has risen 400% in the last 40 years, with 35% of harvested trees being used for paper manufacturing.
In fact, experts predict that if the current rate of reforestation does not slow down, all rainforests will be destroyed in less than 100 years.
As more companies go green to avoid the environmental impact of paper, a paperless solution is becoming increasingly more popular.
These are some of the ways companies can benefit by moving to Paperless Production:
There is a reason we call ourselves “the digital paper factory.”
With SEAL Systems’ Paperless Production (PALO), documents can be stored in numerous virtual locations – and can have tiered access to information depending on role and responsibility.
PALO also provides companies with real-time access to production changes that help companies eliminate the old paper shop packets, or travelers, and allows real-time access to changes in the production schedule.
In addition, SEAL Systems’ PALO solution gives error alerts and necessary notifications. These can be essential because they send an update on any errors in the production process – and make it possible to manage personnel and shop floor operations in a timely manner.
