Insights from the aviation industry: Optimizing the SAP output chain with SEAL Systems

In this Article

In aerospace and defense, reliability and document compliance are not just simple requirements: they have a direct impact on safety, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance.

With this in mind, a leading international corporation in these industries chose SEAL Systems to revamp and secure its entire SAP output chain. The goal: to transition from a heterogeneous set of tools to a global, coherent, and powerful document platform.

It is always a pleasure to see how our solutions can make a significant contribution to optimizing critical processes in such a demanding and sensitive area as aerospace. Together with our partner, we have implemented a groundbreaking project that has not only solved technical challenges but also laid important foundations for long-term efficiency and security.

But what were the specific challenges in this project, and what customized solutions were we able to develop together? Below, we give you a brief insight into the details of this success story.

Standardization and security in a complex environment

The starting point was a group of companies operating internationally at several locations and in several companies, using SAP, with a large number of critical processes closely linked to SAP.

    The biggest challenges:

    • A large number of local solutions for form creation, label management, and SAP spool.
    • High SAP Basis administration costs and increasing complexity.
    • Lack of central monitoring and control of printing processes.
    • High requirements for availability, traceability, and document compliance.

These limitations made standardization and reliability a strategic priority. As a long-standing SAP partner and expert in document-related processes, we can help here.

Solution: A global output management platform from SEAL Systems

To overcome this challenge, SEAL Systems implemented a global output management platform based on the PLOSSYS® Output Engine, an SAP-certified solution designed for complex environments.

This unified architecture made it possible to replace several different solutions for form and label creation and SAP spool management while integrating existing tools for SAP DMS (conversion of documents from SAP DMS and automatic creation of maintenance folders). Each unit within the group now relies on a single platform for the creation, management, and distribution of its critical documents, ensuring end-to-end consistency, compliance, and security.

Results: Performance, standardization, and centralized control

The benefits identified after implementation are significant:

    • Guaranteed and monitored printing and distribution services.
    • Complete standardization of document processes at the corporate level.
    • Significant reduction in SAP Basis administration and associated costs.
    • Centralized monitoring of data flows, orders, and peripheral devices.
    • Simplified management of the printer fleet via easyPRIMA with centralized creation and deletion as well as automatic disposal of obsolete devices.

This project shows how centralized and industrialized management of SAP printing and distribution can be a real lever for performance, compliance, and cost control. With SEAL Systems, this leading aviation group now has a robust, agile, and future-proof document ecosystem that meets even the most critical requirements of its industry.
