With Office 365, Microsoft has changed Office licensing from a product license to a subscription model. This means that customers are now free to choose between a local installation or a cloud version with use in the browser. For companies that store their files on OneDrive in the Azure Cloud, using the browser version of MS Office is not necessary, but it is logical. For these companies and those that do not want to have a local Office installation on their SEAL Systems conversion server, we can now offer our new Microsoft Office Online Converter. In this article we clarify the application possibilities and advantages of the MS Office Online Converter!
Driven by the security requirements of customers when storing files in the Azure Cloud, Microsoft provides a protection mechanism - Azure Information Protection (AIP). Such protected files are increasingly also found in the SAP DMS of our customers, lead there to conversion errors or cannot be printed via PLOSSYS®. Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) is very similar to AIP. This article describes what we know about AIP and MIP so far and how our solution concepts look like.
In the last two years, there have been many new features and improvements of the different products and components of SEAL Systems. Since the end of May 2021, a new version for conversion has been released – DPF 3.0. Here are the most important innovations and discontinuations.
Authentication is an important component in many EWS applications. Exchange Online supports standard web authentication protocols to ensure the security of communication between your application and the Exchange server. The standard authentication (Basic Auth) provided a basic level of security here, but will soon no longer be supported by Microsoft. The Mail Service of the Digital Process Factory (DPF) from SEAL Systems is affected by this change.
Is the Microsoft Office Converter from SEAL Systems already available for Office 365? The good news first: Our converter is released for MS Office version 2019! But do I need the latest version? And what is behind the version 2019? The following blog post provides the answers to your questions.
Even today, the price list is still the central element in a company's sales. In this blog post, you will learn how we can support you in the automated creation of price lists and make the price list a universal tool for you and your customers.
As the preferred partner of the international aviation industry, Diehl Aviation stands for highly specialized cabin solutions. The company bundles all aviation activities of the Diehl Group. Among its customers are well-known aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Embraer. At Diehl Aviation in Laupheim, customer production documents are stored in the central SAP system and retrieved in the plants using a production information system. This used to be done via a self-programmed SAP interface. After the used production information system had been discontinued at short notice, a new solution had to be found quickly, preferably SAP-integrated. Thanks to SAP Engineering Control Center – SAP ECTR – and a concerted campaign, this was achieved promptly – in less than four months!
Many of our customers are currently thinking about using Google's G Suite - in parallel or as a replacement for MS Office 365. In this context, the conversion of G Suite documents into the neutral format PDF and the archive format PDF/A will also have to be reorganized.
Office documents can be structured in such a way that they do not reveal their entire content immediately. In other words, embedded files can be "hidden" in Office documents. For archiving purposes, embedded files must be backed up to make sure information is not lost - at any time. Unfortunately, archiving Office documents by themselves is not a solution because archiving cannot take place in an application format. The working documents must be converted into a visually identical, standardized, long-term and revision-proof file format. In other words, any information visible in the working document must also be visible in the archived document, including embedded files. PDF/A can meet this requirement.
A Public Insurance company was looking for a new conversion solution with two main requirements: 1. an extension of the existing conversion processes to include other types of digital documents, in particular application formats (about 5,000 files per working day). 2. on-the-fly conversion of TIFF files from the archive to PDF to enable rapid delivery to customers in a customer portal (approximately 1,000 files per business day). With the Digital Process Factory as conversion server, SEAL Systems solved the challenge in no time at all.
