Many companies use both Microsoft SharePoint and SAP DMS to store documents and enterprise content. Learn why these specific applications are important for content storage – and how these systems can easily be linked with SEAL Systems applications.
Microsoft SharePoint is beneficial to companies because it provides a secure place to store, organize, share, and access company documents. The only tool that is needed to access the information on any device is a web browser.
As the default library for every single SharePoint site, the document library is also the default when you add a new library in SharePoint. This library, as you might have guessed it from the name, is where documents in SharePoint are stored.
The SharePoint picture library is a unique library where images and photos can be stored. What sets it apart from the document library is that the picture library’s default display for the images and photos are the “thumbnail view”. The picture library also has built-in metadata that is specific to images (e.g., date the picture was taken, etc.)
The other library that is a default on every single SharePoint site is the site assets library. The site assets library is used to store the content and files that are needed for a SharePoint site to function (e.g., logos, synchronized Microsoft files, images, videos, etc.) This is the library that all working files and content are stored. In addition, the site asset library is also where everything that is used to build a site is saved.
The last SharePoint library is the site pages library. This is specific to pages only and is where all the pages that are part of your site are stored. All pages that are modified or created as part of a company’s SharePoint site are located here.

SEAL Systems– SAP DMS Link – connects SharePoint libraries with SAP. This connection helps to synchronize data from SharePoint into SAP.
Our SAP DMS Link collects metadata and file data of documents in SharePoint libraries, transfers this information into SAP DMS, and creates or changes SAP documents according to the data.
The SAP DMS Link can become useful when documents needed for maintaining a production line are captured and managed in SharePoint. SAP DMS Link transfers these documents into SAP DMS and links to documents to the maintenance order in SAP. From there, the documents can be viewed, printed, or distributed in order to start and complete the maintenance process.
