To meet the high standard demands of long term archiving, document formats are needed, which are unchangeable and which can still be interpreted after many years. The specific formats of applications cannot fulfill these requirements because they are mostly not public and are often changed with each new version of the application. This is not suited for long term interpretation.

Long time formats like PDF and TIFF/G4 are neutral and therefore they are the right remedy for this problem. These formats are open, not changeable and standardized by industry and norming institutions. Practically spoken we can call this digital paper.

The application conversion programs from SEAL Systems are specially designed for the conversion of application data into digital paper. They are products with batch processing, which can be implemented within any conversion workflows. Especially the application converters are used as PLM solutions, for example as a conversion server for SAP. Here they should - triggered by status changes of a document - generate the appropriate digital paper and make it available for archiving.
