PDF Longlife Suite from SEAL Systems is an existig product for the generation verification and correction of standardized PDF/A data. PDF/A is the standardized archiving format for PDF files with the ISO standard available. With integration modules, procedures are quickly avaiblable for many PLM and DMS systems. With an enhanced version 3 now available, PDF Longlife Suite is now adaptable to all current standard developments.

More Features with PDF/A-2

PDF/A-2 is based on the recently standardized ISO DF/A-2 reference 1.7. Through this revision and release as an ISO standard 32,000, PDF/A-2 can now use all newly available PDF functions. PDF/A-2 allows for the use of PDF collections for the structured bundling of connected files for a contained PDF file. Also, the modern JPEG2000 image compression and Open Type fonts are now available. Some implementation limits, including the maximum printable area, are now eliminated. Furthermore, some existing PDF functions have been more precisely defined in order to be used with long term archiving. Among these are transparent areas, a function which is used for visually appealing color mixtures in presentation graphics and also for re-usable corporate identity elements like company logos (etc.), and digital signatures, which can now be used as multi signatures with updatable time stamps.

PDF Longlife Suite 3 Available as an Update

PDF Longlife Suite has been improved to be PDF/A-ready, and is now available as version 3. PDF LLS 3 is delivered with pre-sets on check protocol PDF/A-1b. All other check protocols including PDF/A-1a, some SEAL Systems specifics compatible to the PDF/A-1-series, as well as profiles for level a, b and u of standardized part 2 can be set on request. For many customers level 2b is very simple in comparision with other levels.

Users of PDF LLS will recognize that problems with non-compatible fonts will be solved and that color representation can be adapted to the standard rules. This is possible now by using the proven Callas SDK for the lowest level of the software architecture. Callas SDK is known as a preflight check tool in all Adobe Acrobat products. Therefore, it is a well-proven system in conneciton with Adobe products. Therefore, this can be considered the best check engine available on the market.

For customers who have their own integration for PDF Longlife suite into their systems environment based on the already existing configuration and log files, nothing will change with the handling of their processes. The integration level of the customer environment is kept as the previous version by SEAL Systmes.

An update on PDF LLS 3 is free of charge for all SEAL Systems currenct customers with a maintenance contract. The change to this version is necessary for customers who want to use the new revision of PDF/A. In addtion, it is recommended for customers who want an improved adaption and solution of already known errors in their files.
