Publishing with DPF Technology

SDV Vergabe is a business area of the Sächsisches Druck- und Verlagshaus AG and is the official service for competitive biddings for all tendering parties of Saxonia - be it public or private. The SDV AG is doing the printing and sending of all necessary documents for these parties.

Documents brought in are being sorted and converted into printable/distributable formats semi-automatically with publishing systems from SEAL Systems. Using the DPF Technology from SEAL Systems, the new process has been standardized and accelerated, significantly reducing manual operations.

Among others, these process steps are being executed:

  • Decompression of ZIP containers (also interlaced ones)
  • Conversion of Word and Excel files to PDF
  • Correction of defective or partly protected PDF files
  • Sorting of colored and monochrome documents
  • Sorting out of large formats while creating insertion slide-in pages for the DIN A4 paper stack
  • Scaling and clipping functions
  • New and continuous page numbering

New: Interactive WorkingUnit

Interactive changes by editors are possible at three defined views of the process. After a first automatic check for compatibility, the job data is pre-sorted, analyzed and sighted. Further automatic processing steps are followed and an opportunity for an editor to inspect the job and check whether the results and order are correct is provided. DPF provides information like page numbers, page sizes, information about colored and monochrome pages etc. The print data is then generated in a format for document output, SDV AG chose PDF/X-3. This ISO standard for pre-press is  used by SDV and all the users are familiar with it. As a final security measure, the result of this final conversion can be checked again before starting the print jobs.

Short Amortisation Time – New Growth Possibilities

Helmut Peilert, Project Manager from SDV is very pleased with the results: "I really want to say thank you SEAL Systems for this great project. The whole operation was under constant supervision of our board of directors. This investment with a calculated ROI of 2 years opened up the growth possibilities we were strategically aiming for in the future. Standardized operations provide our clients with assured quality and delivery on schedule of all print products."

Project Manager Marco Wagner from SEAL Systems: "In this project we were able to gain new experience and created new components, which are enabling us to provide even more attractive and efficient solutions for our clients. Innovative clients are like a motor for us when it comes to new developments."
